Airband is used to mean the VHF band between 118 MHz and 137 MHz, which covers its use for commercial and general aviation, radionavigational aids, air traffic control and other uses. In common use among aviation professionals, the band of frequencies is sometimes referred to as VHF or Victor. The best deal going shortwave radio portable bigdoug42 Only a small premium, I bought a Sony ICF-SW7600GR, not at all well, came back and got the radio. My first experience with this brand and I must say I am impressed with this radio. It has a lot of value with the radio in office, the large backlit display, rotary tuning and volume, upper and lower SSB, etc. Check the radio reception is very good on all bands, I have recommended. It 'a winner! 25 of 28 people found this review helpful. Review Craig, great radio ever made! By W. Zhao This is the latest offering from Tecsun and, possibly, their best so far. It is a dual conversion radio with a myriad of functions, including synchronous detection. My sample was first generation unit which means that the display light will stay for 3 seconds after the control is activated. New units will have lights that stay on for 30 seconds Other changes include new speed tuning. Operation and Layout: Layout is very easy. BFO adjustment knob and non-digital volume control located on the right. Antenna Terminal (FM / short wave), the main antenna gain, change the low tone, headphone jack and external power are located on the left. All other controls are on. After turning on the radio and selecting a band, you can choose one of three modes of use: VF, VM, or scanning. If you choose to VF (frequency mode) to vote as you would any radio frequencies or input directly from the keyboard. If you select MS (Memory Mode) using the adjustment knob to "browse" through the stations. If you choose the scanning mode, the receiver will stop for 5 seconds at each station and proceed to the next. Memories can be stored manually or automatically using ATS (auto tuning system). This is a very handy feature that automatically saves stations.T There are two options, but I will fashion A as an example, select the AM band and hold the same button for a second and can be used. The radio will be silenced, and dispay will literally begin to count the received station until it reaches the end of the tape. The button can now be used to be perceived by all stations over the "dead frequencies" rolled. The threshold, or squelch is low enough that even the quietest stations counted as valid. In the past I have made radios useless with this feature because the squelch is set to high also causes a strong transmitter to miss. These memories will stay on until the ATS back the previously stored memories to write about. What makes this feature even more interesting is that literally give you an indication of the atmospheric conditions from day to day. Some nights during a scan you can get 70 stations,,,, 85 the next night Selectivity radio has two selected bandwidths. I would suspect 6kHz. and 3 kHz? These are shown in parentheses instrument is as backward differnt widths also has a sync detector to assist in selecting the individual stations, if you listen to a weak station that 800khz and find a strong admixture of a power to enable synchronization 790 and select USB (upper Side Band), which will eliminate most interference. This does not change the tone of the sound a bit but it works great! If the signal becomes too much during the week to work synchronization, the SYNC is flashing on the screen. Sync can reduce fading a bit, but works best as a separator of the season. Selectable SSB BFO included for shortwave enthusiasts. Find a radio operator and select the right side of the band (usually under ten megs LSB and USB 10Megs above) and fine-tune the BFO to decode those broadcasts. It is very stable in use. Sensitivity: MW sensitivity is quite good, due to a nearly 5 'internal antenna, but I would like to further improve reception with a tunable loop ... WA state I just CKMX Utah and KFI Los Angeles and received CKNW New Westminster, British Columbia.
